Special 80th Birthday Cake
This cake was required for the Clients mother who was turning 80. The main specifications were that it was chocolate flavour, big enough for at least 50 portions, and had a flower theme as the Clients mother loved gardening.
After discussing different ideas with the Client this design was settled on. It is a two tier stacked chocolate cake made with sumptuous 70% cocoa solids, covered with white sugarpaste and adorned with beautiful pink 'brushed embroidered' wild roses.
The rose design was used as the Clients mothers name was Rose therefore making it unique and even more special for her. I decided to use the 'brush embroidery' technique for the roses as another of the Client's mothers hobbies was embroidery and this technique makes the design look like it has been embroidered on to the cake, again making it more special for the Client.
This cake design would also look beautiful for a wedding cake!
Quirky 60th Birthday Cake
This client wanted a birthday cake for her mother's 60th birthday. The client wasn't sure what sort of cake they wanted so during consultation we talked about what the Client's mother liked, what her hobbies were and what sort of things she enjoyed doing.
The Client mentioned how much her mother loved her dog and how the dog was nicknamed 'King Barney' in their household as he was a very spoilt pooch.
From this discussion I came up with the design of Barney the dog sat on a throne with a crown on his head, with lots of bones and toys around him. I also incorporated King Barney's initials in a plaque and used the union jack red, white and blue colour theme to make it look extra regal! The actual cake was a delicious vanilla sponge filled with vanilla buttercream and homemade strawberry jam.
Elegant 50th birthday cake
The Client's specifications were very open for this cake which meant I could design a cake with wide scope. The client's only requirements was that it was a vanilla sponge, big enough for around 120 portions, was 'girly' and incorporated the colour theme for the birthday party which was lilac and silver.
From discussions with the client I designed and made a two tier and two toned stacked cake, decorated with butterflies, flowers and royal icing piped flourish design on the top in white to stand out against the background of lilac.
Spooky Halloween Pumpkin Cake
This cake was made for a Halloween party where they were planning a pumpkin carving competition and so wanted a cake with a realistic style.
The cake was a red velvet cake recipe with cream cheese frosting, covered with bright orange sugarpaste and decorated to look like a real pumpkin. The Client was very impressed with the cake and it was also a big hit at the party!
